Wildwood teacher awarded for 'Excellence in Teaching'

Two Alberta teachers were honored at Ottawa's
Rideau Hall on January 28 for their joint cultural
exchange program which brought their students
together to appreciate Albertan history from
multiple perspectives.
Maxine Hildebrandt, who teaches a grade
three-four split class at Mother Earth's Children's
Charter near Stony Plain, and Lisl Gunderman, a
grade four and five teacher at Wildwood School,
were jointly presented with the Governor
General's History Award for Excellence in
Teaching by the Governor General of Canada
Julie Payette on January 28.
All of this was spurred from a coincidental
meeting at a hunting education course, where
these two teachers met and connected.
Inspired by the course's learning style, which
combined collaborative effort with a hands on
learning experience, Hildebrandt and Gunderman
