Edson soccer players show impressive talent at Sherwood Park Classic

by Shaylyn Thornton

The Edson Minor Soccer Association's travel
teams attended the Sherwood Park Classic on
May 25-26 to compete against teams from all
over central Alberta.
Sherwood Park, Fort McMurray, Whitecourt,
Jasper, Hinton, Fort Saskatchewan, Athabasca,
St. Paul, Drayton Valley, Vermilion, Bonnyville,
Cold Lake, and Edson all sent teams to compete
in the tournament.
Edson was able to send three boys teams and
three girls teams, all of whom played hard and
represented our community well.
This year the travel teams had to make some
adjustments in order to accommodate all of the
youth that wanted to play. Because of this, the
boys have two U-13 teams, both of which
attended the tournament. Edson also sent a U-17
boys team, though approximately three quarters
of the team is under 15 years of age.
