Edson Elite U15 Girls heading to Volleyball Nationals
by Shaylyn Thornton
In yet another exciting event for Edson athletes,
the Edson Elite, a U15 Girls Volleyball team, are
headed to compete in Nationals.
The team of 10 girls aged 14-15 are thrilled at
the opportunity to attend the event from May 9 to
12. The University of Alberta hosts the event in
their Saville Community Sports Centre.
The team is comprised of students from
different schools across town, providing an
opportunity for the girls to get to know people
from outside of their regular day-to-day
activities.
Team member Paige Sidoruk said that the best
thing about being a part of the Edson Elite is
“being able to make new friends.”
Teammate Kyra Brodersen agreed, and said that
she had learned a lot from being part of the team.
“I learned to work hard and work with new
people,” she said. She also commented on the
skill she had been able to work on including,
“learning to hit better, serve better, and pass
better.”
The girls commented that the opportunity to go
to Nationals is “fun and exciting” and something
that not everyone will get to do. The tournament
