Edson Baptist Church hosts fun-filled Youth Event

The Edson Baptist Church hosted a youth event to help
both church-going youth as well as non-church-going
youth connect in the community.
The event took place at the Yellowhead Koinonia
Christian School on Friday, October 18. Children from
grades six to twelve were welcome to attend, which
resulted in a turnout of 56 youths.
Organizing the event was Brian McPhee from the Edson
Baptist Church, along with many volunteers from various
church groups.
McPhee said, “The purpose of the event is to first of all
outreach to the community so that they know there is youth
groups happening, but also to connect to those youths who
are not coming to church.”
“Those who are coming to church already know there are
youth groups, but the ones that are not attending and are
maybe looking for something more than the world is Team Pink practicing their laser tag skills during a Youth Event hosted at Koinonia Christian

The kids were split into groups and rotated though the
various activities offered during the evening. The main
attraction was indoor laser tag. Elite Laser Tag from
Edmonton provided all the set-up and obstacles
throughout the gym to create an amazing laser tag course
for the kids.
One classroom was also devoted to indoor games where
kids could play chess, Monopoly, Dutch Blitz, and various
games on a Nintendo Switch.
In addition, there was an outdoor games station where
kids played Kick-the-Can and Tug-of-War.
An assortment of pop and chips were provided for
children to snack on throughout the night, included fresh
popcorn from a popcorn machine donated to the church.
McPhee hopes this will become an annual event. Last
year the event was hosted by the Family of Faith, and
ideally another church group in the area will take over the Team Blue plays fast-paced card game called Dutch Blitz at YKCS during the Edson Baptist
